Hallucinated-IQA: No-Reference Image Quality Assessment via Adversarial Learning
نویسندگان
چکیده
No-reference image quality assessment (NR-IQA) is a fundamental yet challenging task in low-level computer vision community. The difficulty is particularly pronounced for the limited information, for which the corresponding reference for comparison is typically absent. Although various feature extraction mechanisms have been leveraged from natural scene statistics to deep neural networks in previous methods, the performance bottleneck still exists. In this work, we propose a hallucination-guided quality regression network to address the issue. We firstly generate a hallucinated reference constrained on the distorted image, to compensate the absence of the true reference. Then, we pair the information of hallucinated reference with the distorted image, and forward them to the regressor to learn the perceptual discrepancy with the guidance of an implicit ranking relationship within the generator, and therefore produce the precise quality prediction. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach, comprehensive experiments are evaluated on four popular image quality assessment benchmarks. Our method significantly outperforms all the previous state-of-the-art methods by large margins. The code and model are publicly available on the project page https://kwanyeelin.github. io/projects/HIQA/HIQA.html.

Recurrent Attentional Model for No-Reference Image Quality Assessment
In this paper, we present a novel method of no-reference image quality assessment (NR-IQA), which is to predict the perceptual quality score of a given image without using any reference image. The proposed method harnesses three functions (i) the visual attention mechanism, which affects many aspects of visual perception including image quality assessment, however, is overlooked in the NR-IQA l...

Inspired by the free-energy brain theory (Friston, Kilner, and Harrison 2006), which implies that human visual system (HVS) tends to reduce uncertainty and restore perceptual details upon seeing a distorted image (Friston 2010), we propose restorative adversarial net (RAN), a GAN-based model for no-reference image quality assessment (NR-IQA). RAN, which mimics the process of HVS, consists of th...
متن کاملDeep Quality: A Deep No-reference Quality Assessment System
Image quality assessment (IQA) continues to garner great interest in the research community, particularly given the tremendous rise in consumer video capture and streaming. Despite significant research effort in IQA in the past few decades, the area of noreference image quality assessment remains a great challenge and is largely unsolved. In this paper, we propose a novel no-reference image qua...
متن کاملScalable image quality assessment with 2D mel-cepstrum and machine learning approach
Measurement of image quality is of fundamental importance to numerous image and video processing applications. Objective image quality assessment (IQA) is a two-stage process comprising of the following: (a) extraction of important information and discarding the redundant one, (b) pooling the detected features using appropriate weights. These two stages are not easy to tackle due to the complex...
متن کاملNo-Reference Image Quality Assessment Using Euclidean Distance Matrices
Image quality assessment (IQA) methods play important roles in many applications such as image communication, reception, compression, restoration, and display. No-reference IQA metrics are required to resolve an image when there is a lack of a reference image that is required for fullreference IQA metrics. We propose a no-reference IQA method to evaluate the image quality by using the differenc...
